Let's Tap!

What recording artists are in your playlist?? Hopefully a few of those artists hail from the state of Georgia. There are so many iconic and legendary recording artist that were born in Georgia like Ray Charles, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Allman Brothers Band, and Outkast. That iconic list also includes artists who may not have been born in Georgia but fostered their careers here in the city of Atlanta like John Mayer. This year’s Let’s Tap! theme is The Playlist of Georgia, directed and choreographed by Kyme Hersi-Sallid. The Rhythm Keepers and Junior Rhythm Keepers tap companies, along with the Apprentice Rhythm Keepers, are ready to celebrate Georgia’s artists by hoofing to music that will make you want to dance in your seat and sing along. The Rug Cutters teen swing dancers, directed by Eliza Reese and Danny Iktomi Bevins, will also join in the fun as  guest performers. Other recording artists in our tapping playlist are Little Richard, B-52's, Brenda Lee, Otis Redding, R.E.M., James Brown, Lauren Alaina, Lainey Wilson, CeeLo Green, Johnny Mercer, India.Arie, Sugarland and Usher.  Please join us for the 11th annual production of Let’s Tap! It will be a toe-tapping celebration of our local music icons, and don’t forget to bring your tap shoes to join us on stage for the Shim Sham. Let’s Tap!

The Land of Sweets

Decatur City Dance is proud to present our inaugural production of “The Land of Sweets”. With the holiday season fast approaching, what better way to get in the spirit than joining us and our talented dancers on a fun and fanciful journey.

“The Land of Sweets” will transport you to a magical realm where you will be greeted and guided by the Sugar Plum Fairy. The Sugar Plum Fairy presents a celebration of magical dancing treats from around the world. Starting with the sparkling snowflakes that summon the Sugar Plum Fairy. Then the sweet treats are called to dance starting with Hot Chocolate (Spain), Coffee (Arabian), Tea (China), Candy canes (Russia), Marzipan (Germany), Scottish Shortbread (Scotland) and then the magical Hummingbird Fairy flits and flys through the garden of enchanted flowers.

The Sugar Plum Fairy is a highlight as the elegant and charming ruler of the Land of Sweets. Join us and enjoy our show, as it is sure to be a treat for the eyes and ears and will leave you dreaming your own sweet dreams.
