"I'm Here"

Decatur City Dance is excited to present our fall dance concert “I’m Here” the weekend of November 7-9, 2025 in our recently refreshed Sams Street Black Box Theatre.

Professional performers of AboutFace Contemporary are joined by ten pre-professional members of the Nexus Company as well as guest performers from Kit Modus contemporary dance company. The performance presents choreography by Toya Willingham, Sarah Stokes and Artistic Director, Leslie Gourley. Willingham offers a newly created contemporary work called “and this too” as well as a repertoire jazz piece called “Sincere”. Sarah Stoke revives her 2025 murder mystery “Suspect”, and Gourley’s new work entitled “As I Lie Thinking…” incorporates aspects of literature, art, music, and dance to ponder: thought versus thinking, The Four Loves, age and youth, conflict and how we communicate (or don’t) our points of view, and the grief and joy of memory and loss.
